CSI Theme Tunes / Intros

During the writing of this blog I often come across some strange requests of things you, the fans, would like to see on here from photos of the CSI cast to CSI clips form backstage and many more I dare not mention but by far the most requested are the intro or theme from CSI. It seems that as much as we all love the show it is the intro that makes us water at the mouth in anticipation of what will happen next on CSI.

Something special happens when you connect with a TV show like CSI and the CSI cast become like family to us all and it seems hearing the theme tune to CSI puts a smile on all our faces as we think about those we have "grown up" with and hold dear. From the comments you send in about your favourite CSI episodes and CSI cast it seems you all share a great interest in how their "lives" will progress but mostly you simply enjoy the chemistry on screeen and never tire of seeing the same episode again and again on CSI DVD because you see new interactions and hints to relationships between them all.

So knowing how much it means to you all I was left with the dilema of which CSI intros to post untill I came across this little number from a fan of CSI on YouTube. This clip has all three CSI theme tunes back to back so there is something for all the CSI Vegas fans the CSI Maini fans and the CSI NY fans and hopefully you will all enjoy seeing them all together.

CSI looks to recruit thousands of home-grown forensic agents with the development of its very first interactive mobile phone game.

Capitalising on its status as the biggest TV show on earth, Momentum Pictures have launched the very first mobile phone game for its CSI franchise allowing entrants to conduct their very own investigation via their mobile handsets.

To coincide with the launch of CSI:NY Season 4, part 2 on October 27 and a catalogue promotion of up 70% off the entire CSI DVD range, Momentum Pictures will seek to harness fans' love of the complex procedural puzzles set in each episode, allowing entrants to conduct their own investigation via their mobile handsets.

The bespoke, fully immersive, multi-platform game can be accessed via a branded CSI WAP portal and online portal. The game weaves voice, print and online executions into its narrative whereby entrants are required to pick up a voicemail message, visit a MySpace page, find evidence in HMV stores and even check the classified sections of The Sun newspaper in order to find the relevant evidence.

In the game, participants become a CSI agent caught up in the hunt for an 18 year old female serial killer who lures her victims by inviting them to spoof parties. As one of the agents investigating the case, entrants have to collect evidence that they SMS to their boss at CSI headquarters and then receive detail about the next stage.

Those entrants who solve the crime and find all the correct evidence have the chance to win one of ten, exclusive, CSI-branded Samsung Omnia's loaded with specially created content. In one of these exclusive devices will be a 'Golden Ticket' for a holiday to New York, the setting for Detective Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise) and his team's forensic exploits in the show which forms of part of what is widely regarded as the biggest TV franchise in the world.

"CSI fans are famous for their passion and the amount of fan fiction that they generate around the show," explained Michael Artup, Brand Manager at Momentum Pictures. Fishburne And Petersen Reunite At Emmys

Actor Laurence Fishburne has praised William Petersen since replacing his character on hit U.S. TV show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation - because he raised standards for television.

Petersen - one of the show's original cast members - is set to leave his post as crime investigator Gil Grissom, though he will remain an executive producer on the series.

His absence is marked by Fishburne's debut in the show's forthcoming 10th season next month.
Presenting an award at Sunday's 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, Petersen said: "I'm honoured to hand over the keys to the lab to a wonderful actor and a new friend, Mister Laurence Fishburne."

The actor responded by humbly adding: "Thank you Billy, I just hope I can live up to the high standards you've set not only for the first CSI series but for the many CSI series that have followed in your footsteps."

LAURENCE FISHBURNE JOINS THE CAST OF "CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION"

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 18 — Oscar nominee and Emmy and Tony Award winner Laurence Fishburne ("What's Love Got To Do With It," "The Matrix," "Miss Evers' Boys") will join the cast of the CBS Paramount Network Television and Jerry Bruckheimer Television series, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, on the CBS Television Network. His character will debut in this season's ninth episode.

Fishburne will play a former pathologist who is now working as an itinerant college lecturer, teaching a course in criminalistics. His focus is on understanding criminal behavior, how and why people commit acts of violence – tendencies he disturbingly sees within himself. In the course of a murder investigation, he comes into contact with the CSI team and ultimately joins the Las Vegas Crime Lab as a Level-1 CSI.

"CBS asked us, 'Who's at the top of your dream list?' say CSI executive producers Carol Mendelsohn and Naren Shankar. "Without hesitation, we said Laurence Fishburne. He is a powerful and intense actor, with an incredible range. We had the opportunity to see Mr. Fishburne in 'Thurgood' on Broadway a few weeks ago, and it was a truly profound experience. The actor disappeared and Thurgood Marshall was standing there on the stage. Mr. Fishburne is also a talented writer and director. If you distill CSI down to its essence, it's a collaboration—and we are so looking forward to collaborating with Mr. Fishburne. For all of us at CSI, this is truly a dream."

"I am elated and delighted to be joining the cast of CSI," says Fishburne. "I look forward to a wonderful collaboration with the creative and talented team of such a successful and distinguished show," he added.

Laurence Fishburne and CSI executive producers Carol Mendelsohn and Naren Shankar will discuss Fishburne joining CSI on a media conference call Monday, Aug. 18 at 2:30 PM ET/11:30 AM, PT.

CSI:NY wins "Silver" for CBS

Ratings for the Olympics dropped slightly on Wednesday although NBC’s coverage of the Games easily remained the most watched programming of the night.

According to Nielsen’s estimates, roughly 24.3 million viewers tuned in during prime time, one of the smallest audiences to tune in to this year’s Games in Beijing.

CBS placed second, earning its best ratings with reruns of “CSI: NY” at 10 (6.1 million). CBS’s “Greatest American Dog” garnered 5.1 million viewers at 8. ABC and Fox finished in a virtual tie for third. Both networks offered mainly reruns with the exception of ABC at 10 p.m. when it broadcast “Primetime: Crime,” which delivered 4.1 million viewers.

The sucess of the CSI's, CSI Vegas, CSI Miami, and CSI NY continue to earn CBS top 10 ratings proving popular with American audiences who, it seems, happily watch reruns of their favourite Crime Drama rather than Live action from the Beijing Olympics 2008.

Gil Grissom leaves CSI for good...

WILLIAM PETERSEN SAYS BYE TO CSI
Source: Entertainment Weekly

You know that fancy new CSI contract that William Petersen
inked last May? Turns out there was a ticking time bomb buried
in the fine print: He'll be gone by midseason! And not "off to do a play"
gone like he was back in 2006. No, this season's 10th episode will be
his last as a full-time series regular.

"Billy is leaving," confirms the show's executive producer, Carol
Mendelsohn. "But he will remain throughout the run of the series an
executive producer. And he will, whenever CBS asks, come back. I don't
think you've seen the last of Gil Grissom."

Neither does Petersen. In fact, in an exclusive interview conducted on
July 11, the eight-year CSI vet seemed almost reluctant to characterize
his departure as, um, a departure.

Citing both his ongoing role as an executive producer and his intention
to return on occasion as a (very special) guest star, he said, "I'm in a
great place in terms of knowing that I'll be more free to make choices.
And I'm responsible enough to not do it in a way that would hurt [the
show].

"I want it to work for the writers, I want it to work for the cast, and,
most importantly, I want it to work for the audience," he added. "I
don't want them to abandon the show."

CBS has to be concerned about that, too. Although no one expects ratings
to nosedive when Petersen leaves, the network's top-rated show is
staring down its biggest challenge ever. His sorta swan song, coupled
with Jorja Fox and Gary Dourdan's exits last season, brings to three the
number of original cast members CSI will have lost in a year's time.

"This will be a year of transition for the show," concedes Mendehlson.
"We always knew it was coming, and I'm glad it didn't come until now."
At this point, she's confident that, like Law & Order and ER, CSI is a
franchise that can weather such cast shifts. "There's never going to be
another William Petersen, and there will never be another Jorja Fox,"
she hastens to add. "But we are not out to just replace those actors.
We're out to add new characters to the show, and the show will change as
a result. But that's a good thing."

In the meantime, Mendelsohn is plotting one hell of a send-off for her
leading man. Just as this is a year of transition for CSI, so too is it
for Grissom. The events of last season's finale -- specifically the
death of Dourdan's Warrick -- will push Grissom to the breaking point.
"The easiest way to describe Grissom is 'in crisis,'" Petersen told me.
"As a man. As a scientist. As a teacher. As a middle-aged person who has
been very successful at what he's done... [he] wonders, 'What's the
point?'

"It's all of a sudden becoming more difficult for him to do his job," he
continued. "What had been a sort of fun job for him to do, because he
loved the solving of the riddle, has become ever more taxing and
difficult."

Helping Grissom through the crisis will be his true love, Sara, played
by Fox, who is returning for multiple episodes, starting with the season
premiere. While Petersen confirms that Sara will figure into Grissom's
final arc, he stops just short of saying the couple will ride off into
the desert together at the end of episode 10. "I wouldn't want to say
exactly what we're going do -- I want people to watch, certainly," he
chuckled. "But Sara is involved... It's often darkest just before the
dawn."

And lest anyone read any hidden meaning into that statement, the actor
reiterated, "For me, it's a really good situation. I don't want the
audience to think it's not... [It isn't] like there's something going
on, like 'Petersen's unhappy,' 'cause it's not true. It's quite the
contrary. "

That explains why he's having trouble labeling his departure a... well,
you know. "My biggest problem with leaving the show at any point isn't
leaving Grissom -- I'm an actor, it's time to do other things," said the
stage vet, whose first post-CSI gig will be a return to the theater --
and to Connor McPherson's play, A Dublin Carol -- this fall in his
hometown of Chicago. "[The hard part will be saying goodbye] to the cast
and crew. [So] I'm going to stay as involved as I'm allowed to be
throughout the remainder of this show. Until they turn off all the
lights."

CSI: NY CLIFFHANGER LEAVES VIEWERS IN SUSPENSE

Source: NY Daily News

For the first time since the show launched, CBS' CSI: NY will end the season with a cliffhanger episode that won't be settled until the show returns in September.

"It's something a little new for us," said series star Gary Sinise. "It's a great story line."

The season comes to an end with an episode built around a bank robbery gone bad and a gunman taking everyone in the place hostage. But, as part of the negotiations, he wants a CSI to come in and prove his innocence in the death of a branch manager.

The CSI that goes in, of course, is Sinise's Det. Mac Taylor.

No surprise, Sinise isn't going to spill any of the juicy details.

Sinise and the cast and crew of CSI: NY will remain in production on three episodes to air next season before taking a break for the summer.

CSI:NY Season 4, part 1, will be available on DVD July 14th, and includes Limited Edition packaging - a free UV torch and pen, which you then use to find the hidden clues within the packaging, and the chance to win £10,000*. For more information on the DVD visit the Official CSI Website.
